Privacy Policy
What Fjordfall collects, why we collect it, and what choices you have. We've kept it short and plain.

Who we are
Fjordfall (fjordfall.app) is a Southeast Alaska visitor guide and booking site. It is run by its founder, Joe, in Juneau, Alaska. In this policy, “Fjordfall,” “we” and “us” mean that business.
What we collect and why
We only collect what we need to run the site. Here is the full list.
If you book a charter
- Your name and email, to confirm your trip and contact you about it.
- Your phone number, if you give it, so you can be reached on trip day.
- Your party size, so the trip is planned for the right number of people.
- Your cruise ship and all-aboard time, if you give them, so the trip gets you back in time.
- Two checkboxes you confirm before booking, and your booking's status.
If you contact us or join the waitlist
- Your name, email and message, so we can reply.
- Your email, so we can tell you when there's news.
If you have an operator or admin account
- Your name, email, password and account role. Passwords are stored hashed, never in plain text.
- For each login session, your IP address and browser type, to keep you signed in and help spot suspicious logins.
If you list or run a business on Fjordfall
- Your business name, port, activity, vessel, capacity, contact email, phone and booking link (both optional), description, launch location, season and price range, so we can review and publish your listing.
- If you take charter bookings here: your business name, port, contact email, how customers pay you, and your trips and departure times.
- When we confirm a listing with a business, the name and role of the person we spoke with, and our notes.
If you pay for an operator plan
- Your Stripe customer ID, plan, status, amount and billing email, so we can manage your plan. Your card details stay with Stripe.
Anonymous counts
- How many times each listing is shown per day, and which listings and places are clicked, from which page, and when. No name, email, IP address or cookie is stored with these counts.
Site analytics
- We use Vercel Web Analytics to see overall traffic. Vercel says it works without third-party cookies, recognizes a visit only by a short-lived hash that is discarded after 24 hours, and records things like the page, the referring site, an approximate location, and the type of device and browser (Vercel).
What we don't collect
- Card numbers. Visitors pay charter operators directly. Operators pay for plans on Stripe's own checkout page, so card numbers never reach our servers.
- Advertising trackers. We don't use any. If we ever add one, this policy will say so.
Cookies and local storage
- A login cookie, set only when you sign in, to keep you signed in. If you never sign in, you never get it.
- If you pick light or dark mode, your browser remembers that choice on your device.
We don't use advertising cookies or cookies that follow you to other sites.
Who we share it with
We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it for targeted advertising. We share only what's needed with:
- The charter operator you book with. They receive your name, email, phone (if given), party size, and cruise ship and all-aboard time (if given), so they can run your trip and reach you.
- Our service providers, who handle data only to do their job for us: Vercel (website hosting and analytics), Neon (database), Stripe (payments for operator plans) and Resend (email delivery). See their audits on our Trust & Security page.
- When the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.
- If Fjordfall is ever sold or merged, your information would move to the new owner, who would have to keep following this policy.
Your information may be stored and processed in the United States.
How long we keep it
We keep information only as long as we need it for the reason we collected it, then delete it. Billing records are kept as long as tax law requires. Anonymous counts may be kept longer, because they don't identify anyone. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.
Your choices
Email hello@fjordfall.app to see the information we have about you, correct it, or delete it. We may need to confirm it's really you first, and we'll reply within 30 days. If we have to keep something, like a billing record, we'll tell you why. Using these choices won't change how we treat you.
Security
We take real steps to protect your information, and no website can promise perfect security. Our Trust & Security page explains exactly what we do.
Children
Fjordfall is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us information, email hello@fjordfall.app and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For big changes, we'll also post a notice on the site or email account holders.
